Land classification & soil survey

PES covers the period 9/78-6/83 and consists solely of a facesheet. The objectives of the project have largely been met. Action decisions are to: assure that any follow-on activities are jointly decided on by donor agencies and the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA); extend the project completion date to permit Cornell University to revise the General Soil map and descriptive legend (this specifically includes changes to land use maps); have the MOA consider formally establishing a National Soil Survey and Land Classification Office and decide on replacements for the three soil lab technicians who left North Yemen; and not solely consider Cornell for future donor-financed soils classification until problems of communication and cooperation within its organization are resolved.
