Abstract
The project, implemented by RTI International, focuses on two primary objectives: identifying and strengthening the capacity of local NGOs and strengthening the connectivity of NGOs. To achieve the first objective, the project awarded 19 Comprehensive Capacity Grants to NGOs in the ESC region, tailored to address each grantee's specific operational and management capacity gaps. Additionally, a robust NGO database was developed, containing over 300 regional NGOs integrated into the NGO Link site. This database serves as a valuable resource for NGOs, enabling them to access information, training, and networking opportunities. The project also conducted various capacity development (CD) activities, including proposal writing, advanced advocacy, leadership, financial management, and monitoring and evaluation training workshops. These workshops were attended by a total of 435 participants, representing 86 unique NGOs in the region. Furthermore, online trainings on business plan development and social entrepreneurship were conducted, benefiting Round 1 Comprehensive Capacity grantees and select non-core grantees engaged in social entrepreneurship. The project's efforts to strengthen the connectivity of NGOs were also notable. The NGO Link site was developed, providing a platform for NGOs to connect, share information, and access resources. Additionally, the project facilitated networking events, enabling NGOs to build relationships and collaborate on projects. The project's achievements in FY19 were impressive, surpassing some of the targets for the fiscal year and even the life-of-project (LOP). The project conducted 479 CD activities, helped strengthen the capacity and connectivity of 86 unique NGOs, and reached 435 participants. These results demonstrate the project's effectiveness in achieving its objectives and contributing to the development of a stronger, more resilient civil society in the ESC region. The project's success can be attributed to its focus on building the capacity and connectivity of local NGOs, as well as its commitment to providing a range of training and networking opportunities. By strengthening the capacity and connectivity of NGOs, the project has helped to create a more vibrant and effective civil society in the ESC region, better equipped to address the region's development challenges. The project's achievements in FY19 are a testament to the dedication and hard work of the project team, as well as the commitment of the NGOs and other stakeholders involved. As the project continues to implement its objectives, it is likely to have a lasting impact on the development of the ESC region, contributing to a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable future for all. The project's impact can be seen in the increased capacity and connectivity of local NGOs, as well as the improved performance of these organizations. The project's efforts to strengthen the capacity and connectivity of NGOs have helped to create a more resilient and effective civil society in the ESC region, better equipped to address the region's development challenges. The project's achievements in FY19 are a significant step towards achieving the project's overall goal of strengthening the capacity and connectivity of local NGOs in the ESC region. The project's success demonstrates the importance of investing in the capacity and connectivity of local NGOs, as well as the need for continued support and resources to ensure the long-term sustainability of these organizations.
