Abstract
Suggestions are made as to how some methodological problems can be handled. Lessons are drawn mainly from a study of rice production in Sierra Leone. A stratified area sampling technique involving 240 farmers was used to secure input-output data for a linear programming study of the rice industry. General recommendations are made on methods of farm management and production.
