Abstract
The collection, bulking, cleaning, sorting, drying, and storage of RITS tracked coffee at the dry mill was not accomplished in April due to the lack of coffee collection at the RITS washing stations. Kilicafe finalized farmer payments and conducted annual general meetings with the groups, preparing them for the upcoming 2012/2013 harvest, which is scheduled to commence at the end of May. The grantee also implemented the no-costs extension, which involved training participants from the Northern Kilicafe groups on the RITS workbook in Excel. On April 4th, 12 participants attended a training session at the Sustainable Harvest offices, providing feedback and requesting tracking of second as well as final payments. By the end of the month, the final version of RITS in Excel was completed, ready to be trained to the groups in May. Additionally, 11 new RITS users from five farm washing stations attended a four-day training in basic computer skills from April 17th to 20th, covering topics such as computer functions, internet usage, and email management. The last week of April was dedicated to planning for a large training to commence the second week of May. The grantee also continued monitoring and evaluation of the project, with a focus on data collection and analysis. On April 4th, the Northern RITS users were trained in how to use the iForm application on the iPad to survey farmers. Throughout the month, an unspecified number of Kilicafe farmers were surveyed in the Kilimanjaro, Arumeru, and Ruvuma regions. The collected data will be compared to 2010 data and included in the End of Project Report. This data collection and analysis will provide valuable insights into the project's progress and effectiveness. The grantee's activities in April 2012 demonstrate a commitment to achieving the objectives outlined in the grant agreement. The training sessions and data collection efforts will contribute to the project's overall success and inform future decision-making. The grantee's focus on preparing for the upcoming harvest and planning for future training sessions also indicates a proactive approach to project implementation. The grantee's progress in April 2012 sets the stage for the upcoming months, with a focus on training, data collection, and project implementation. The grantee's commitment to achieving the objectives outlined in the grant agreement will be crucial in determining the project's overall success.
