New screwworm eradication program for North Africa

A.I.D. support will be limited to financing the upgrading of the sterile screwworm production facility in Mexico and the purchase of sterile flies from this facility for release in the infested area. Screwworm eradication will prevent the devastation of livestock and wildlife populations, as well as the human suffering and death, which now threaten Africa, the Middle East, and southern Europe. The project will be administered to ensure that U.S. sanctions against Libya are not violated.
