Abstract
The MoH has identified the need to increase community participation in healthcare decision-making and service delivery. To achieve this goal, the MoH has been implementing community-based health programs, including the Community Health Worker (CHW) program. The CHW program aims to provide basic healthcare services to rural communities, including maternal and child health, immunization, and disease prevention. CHWs are trained to provide health education, conduct health screenings, and refer patients to higher-level healthcare facilities when necessary. In addition to the CHW program, the MoH has been implementing other community-based health initiatives, including the establishment of community health committees. These committees are composed of community members who work together to identify health needs, develop health plans, and implement health interventions. The MoH has also been working to strengthen the capacity of primary healthcare facilities, including the provision of training and equipment to healthcare workers. The MoH has also been implementing a quality improvement program to improve the quality of healthcare services provided at primary healthcare facilities. The USAID-funded Primary Health Care Project in Iraq (PHCPI) has been supporting the MoH's efforts to improve primary healthcare services. The project has been working to strengthen the capacity of primary healthcare facilities, improve the quality of healthcare services, and increase community participation in healthcare decision-making. The PHCPI has been implementing a range of activities, including the establishment of community health committees, the provision of training and equipment to healthcare workers, and the implementation of quality improvement programs. The project has also been working to improve the availability and accessibility of healthcare services, particularly in rural areas. The MoH and the PHCPI have been working together to develop a comprehensive plan to improve primary healthcare services in Iraq. The plan includes a range of activities, including the establishment of community health committees, the provision of training and equipment to healthcare workers, and the implementation of quality improvement programs. The PHCPI has been supporting the MoH's efforts to improve primary healthcare services, including the provision of training and equipment to healthcare workers, and the implementation of quality improvement programs.
