Program to finance the procurement of critically needed pharmaceuticals and essential medical equipment solely for use in treating patients at district hospitals and the University Teaching Hospital in Zambia.

Abstract

A portion of the procurement will be accomplished under the terms of a 9/84 Memorandum of Understanding between UNICEF and USAID. The program responds to a U.S. political commitment to the newly elected and financially strapped Zambian government and supports the government"s compensation strategy for the vulnerable groups affected by its economic restructuring program. There are no policy conditions.
