Abstract
The project, funded by PEPFAR/USAID, targets pregnant women, their families, and male partners to achieve epidemic control nationally. The objectives include preventing HIV in women of childbearing age, ensuring pregnant women know their HIV status, preventing unintended pregnancies among HIV-positive women, preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and providing high-quality, lifelong ART and care to HIV-positive individuals. As of September 2016, the program activities were carried out in partnership with 17 implementing partners, including 11 government entities and six civil society organizations. During the reporting period of July 1 to September 30, 2016, significant achievements were made in PMTCT, HIV testing and counseling, and care and treatment for people living with HIV (PLHIV). In PMTCT, 15,606 pregnant women were tested for HIV in ANC1, and 15,512 received their test results, representing 99.4%. Among them, 154 pregnant women were tested HIV-positive, with a yield of 1%. Additionally, 11,574 pregnant women were tested for HIV in other ANC visits or during labor and delivery, and 11,454 received their test results, representing 99%. Among them, 52 were tested HIV-positive, with a yield of 0.4%. The total number of pregnant women tested for HIV and who received their test results in ANC settings or during labor and delivery is 26,966, with 206 tested HIV-positive, representing 0.8%, while 26,760 were tested HIV-negative, representing 99.2%. In HIV testing and counseling, 101,093 individuals were tested for HIV, and among them, 100,861 received their test results, representing 99.8%. Among individuals tested for HIV and who received their test results, 1,214 individuals were tested HIV-positive, representing 1.2% of seropositivity, while 99,647 were tested HIV-negative, representing 98.8%. Among individuals tested for HIV and who received their test results, 6,738 individuals were aged under 15 years, while 94,123 individuals were adults. In care and treatment for PLHIV, 24,558 PLHIV received clinical services, including 975 individuals who newly received clinical care services. Additionally, 23,283 individuals were enrolled on ART, including 7,436 males and 15,847 females. Among HIV-positive pregnant women, 425 (94%) were enrolled on ARV to reduce the risk of mother-to-child HIV transmission. A total of 279 infants were born to HIV-positive women, and 275 (98.6%) among them received ARVs to reduce the risk of mother-to-child HIV transmission. Furthermore, 275 exposed infants received cotrimoxazole starting 6 weeks after birth, and 221 infants were tested with PCR1 test, with 4 (1.8%) tested HIV-positive and initiated on ART treatment.
