Portugal : FY 1990 cash transfer program

The funds may be used (in order of priority) for: goods and services from the United States; payment of non-military bilateral debt owed to the U.S. Government; payment of debt owed to multilateral development institutions of the IMF; and other purposes as agreed upon. The grant fulfills U.S. obligations under a 1983 agreement extending the U.S. right to use the Lajes Base in the Azores. The Government of Portugal is not obliged to set aside or allocate any local currency.
