Productive credit guaranty project

Project to establish a self-sustaining mechanism to guarantee production credit provided by local Costa Rican banks to small farmers and business persons outside the bona fide credit system.

Abstract

A.I.D. will provide $3 million and participating banks $1.5 million for a credit guaranty fund to be administered by the Central Bank (CB). The regional Productive Credit Guaranty Program"s Technical Unit will provide the CB with a long-term advisor and periodic training seminars.
