Program assistance approval document : El Salvador balance of payments support program no. 519-0310

Economic Support Funds (ESF) will be provided to finance imports of raw materials and intermediate and capital goods. Conditionality for the project requires agreement between A.I.D. and the GOES on strengthening the private sector and agrarian reform and on management of ESF foreign exchange. Local currency generations will be used for agrarian reform compensation, expansion of selected lines of credit to the private sector, and budgetary support of priority public sector programs.
