Abstract
The project was prepared at the invitation of the Nairobi City Council for submission as a proposal to the World Bank for financing. It is a model of large scale urbanization/housing project that provides a framework for related factors for planning policies: Primary land use, target income groups, intensities of land use, forms of land tenure, financing groups, circulation, utilities, development mode, housing options. It serves as a catalyst for the various factors essential to the application of technological resources. It introduces other experiences from other contexts, particularly from Latin America, that are relevant to Nairobi. It is intended for use of public and private institutions: municipalities; planning, housing, and public works agencies; construction industries; technical schools and universities. It provides related information to individuals in different fields of the housing process: planners, architects, engineers, administrators, managers, legislators.
