Abstract
The platform also includes the design and management of new datasets, visualizations, and analytical tools, as requested by USAID. The Hub performed internal audits to ensure the entire DMP is compliant with applicable USAID regulations and standards. The Hub released four major FDW/FDE updates during Q1, adding 78 new features, changes, and improvements to the system. These updates included improvements to data, user interfaces, analytical tools, and visualizations, as well as a REST API. The average uptime for the FDW during Q1 was 100.00 percent, exceeding the target annual uptime target of 99.70 percent. The Hub also performed routine system maintenance to keep the system on the most current software applications. This included upgrading Amazon Web Services' S to store cached objects, reducing resource stress and costs on the Elasticache Server, and upgrading Postgresql from 10.6 w/ PostGIS 2.4 to 12.2 w/ PostGIS 3.0 to ensure compatibility with the Hub's development environments. In addition, the Hub created a new portal in the internal FEWS NET Helpdesk to provide easy access to the Hub's IT platforms and systems. The portal allows users to request the creation of a new account or decommission an existing account. The Hub resolved 91 Helpdesk requests during the quarter, including 14 requests for data upload support, 12 requests for new user accounts, 9 requests for data extraction support, 6 notifications of Google Suite issues, and 3 reports of FDW/FDE issues. The Hub's Knowledge and Learning (K&L) workstream consists of activities to manage, maintain, and improve the FEWS NET Data Explorer (FDE) and other digital applications that store, manipulate, and disseminate the FEWS NET data sets. The Hub provided training sessions on the FDE for the EW team's headquarter and regional offices, as well as email communications to support the EW team and USAID. The Hub also implemented the Project's second Marketing Action Plan related to FEWS NET's COVID-19 data. The Hub's Management workstream consists of activities to manage, maintain, and improve the FEWS NET Hub. The Hub submitted its work plan for Implementation Year 2 (IY2) on October 15, 2020, which included broadening and strengthening collaborations with the EW and Science teams, as well as representing the data and learning dimensions of the FEWS NET Project in the larger food security community. The Hub's work plan for IY2 was developed in collaboration with the EW and Science teams, and it includes several key objectives, including: * Broadening and strengthening collaborations with the EW and Science teams * Representing the data and learning dimensions of the FEWS NET Project in the larger food security community * Improving the Hub's ability to provide data and learning support to the EW team and other stakeholders * Enhancing the Hub's capacity to manage and maintain the FEWS NET DMP and other digital applications The Hub's work plan for IY2 is aligned with the FEWS NET Project's overall goals and objectives, and it is designed to support the Project's efforts to improve food security and reduce the risk of famine in vulnerable communities.
