Abstract
The project focuses on agribusiness, tourism, information and communication technology, and the stone and marble sector. The project's overall goal is to enable Palestinian enterprises to identify significant economic opportunities in the international market, ultimately contributing to a more prosperous Palestinian economy through greater export revenues and increased employment. During the second quarter of 2012, the project made significant progress in achieving its objectives. In the agribusiness sector, the project implemented several initiatives aimed at improving water quality, linking local value chains to international value chains, increasing yield and quality of Palestinian olive oil, and regulating and enforcing quality standards. The project also conducted a feasibility study on alternative uses for slurry and other environmental challenges in the marble and stone sector. In the tourism sector, the project focused on improving the quality of products and services, developing tourism offerings through site renovation, enhancing the capacity of Palestinian tourism professionals, and supporting the implementation of the Bethlehem Master Plan. The project also supported the development of digital tourism in the Palestinian territories. In the information and communication technology sector, the project aimed to support the achievement of new contracts, job creation, and exports, as well as enabling the ICT sector to connect with the diaspora living abroad, particularly in the U.S. The project also conducted a feasibility study on alternative uses for slurry and other environmental challenges in the marble and stone sector. The project's progress was monitored and evaluated through various indicators, including financial updates, management indicators, and media coverage.
