Abstract
Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Government of South Africa (GoSA) to combat the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) epidemic. The country has an estimated 7.5 million people living with HIV, with a high incidence rate of tuberculosis (TB) and a significant number of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases and deaths. The USAID Mission in South Africa supports national, provincial, district, and community-based programs, focusing on the 27 highest HIV-burdened districts, which represent more than 85 percent of South Africa's people living with HIV. The Technical Support Services Activity is funded by the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and aims to support the GoSA in achieving its goal of 81 percent of people living with HIV on treatment and 73 percent with viral load suppression. The activity focuses on scaling up interventions and increasing resources to address the HIV epidemic in South Africa. Key areas of focus include improving access to HIV testing and treatment, increasing viral load suppression, and reducing new HIV infections. The activity is implemented by the Panagora Group, a contractor under the Technical Support Services Activity, in collaboration with the USAID/South Africa Health Office and the Regional Health Office (RHO). The Panagora Group provides technical support services to the USAID/South Africa Health Office and the RHO, including activity management, monitoring and evaluation, and strategic information support. The group also provides administrative support to the USAID/South Africa Health Office, including human resources management and financial management. During the quarter of April 1 to June 30, 2021, the Panagora Group provided technical support services to the USAID/South Africa Health Office and the RHO, including activity management, monitoring and evaluation, and strategic information support. The group also provided administrative support to the USAID/South Africa Health Office, including human resources management and financial management. The Panagora Group worked closely with the USAID/South Africa Health Office and the RHO to support the implementation of the Technical Support Services Activity and to achieve the goals of the activity. The Technical Support Services Activity has made significant progress in supporting the GoSA in its efforts to combat the HIV epidemic in South Africa. The activity has improved access to HIV testing and treatment, increased viral load suppression, and reduced new HIV infections. The activity has also supported the development of strategic information systems to track progress and identify areas for improvement. The Panagora Group will continue to provide technical support services to the USAID/South Africa Health Office and the RHO, including activity management, monitoring and evaluation, and strategic information support. The group will also continue to provide administrative support to the USAID/South Africa Health Office, including human resources management and financial management. The Panagora Group will work closely with the USAID/South Africa Health Office and the RHO to support the implementation of the Technical Support Services Activity and to achieve the goals of the activity. The Technical Support Services Activity is a critical component of the USAID/South Africa Health Office's efforts to combat the HIV epidemic in South Africa. The activity has made significant progress in improving access to HIV testing and treatment, increasing viral load suppression, and reducing new HIV infections. The activity will continue to play a critical role in supporting the GoSA in its efforts to achieve its goal of 81 percent of people living with HIV on treatment and 73 percent with viral load suppression. The activity has also supported the development of strategic information systems to track progress and identify areas for improvement. The Panagora Group will continue to work closely with the USAID/South Africa Health Office and the RHO to support the implementation of the Technical Support Services Activity and to achieve the goals of the activity.
