Abstract
Initiated in October 2012, the project is funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by RTI International in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Regional State Education Bureaus (RSEBs). The project's geographic coverage spans nationwide, with project offices in Amhara, Tigray, Oromia, Ethio-Somali, and SNNPR regions. The project's primary objective is to improve reading and writing skills among primary students, with a focus on seven Ethiopian languages and English. To achieve this goal, READ TA is working closely with the MOE and RSEBs to develop and implement a comprehensive reading and writing program. The program includes the development of reading and writing materials, teacher training, and the provision of technology and teaching aids to support reading and writing instruction. The project's implementing partners include RTI International, Save the Children International, Florida State University, Whiz Kids Workshop, SIL LEAD, Inveneo, and Books for Africa. These partners are working together to develop and implement the project's activities, which include the development of reading and writing materials, teacher training, and the provision of technology and teaching aids. The project's reporting period is from October 1, 2015, to December 31, 2015. During this period, the project made significant progress in implementing its activities, including the development of reading and writing materials, teacher training, and the provision of technology and teaching aids.
