Abstract
It is intended to provide an overview of the organization and functioning of the market and to identify systems constraints and opportunities. A major objective of the study is to analyze marketing, regulatory and fiscal policies and their effects on market performance, especially with regard to exports. The first phase of the study was carried out in May/June 1988, and a second phase was conducted in November/December 1988. Most of the field work was carried out in Niger, although visits were also made to Nigeria and Benin to explore market channels for Niger cowpeas. (Author abstract)
