Abstract
All activities funded under the project supported the Office of the A.I.D. Representative/Nouakchott's country development strategy statement. Activities were concentrated in the areas of agricultural production and research, health, human resources development, and private sector development. Specifically, the project supported analyses related to the development of sector and country program strategies; feasibility studies; project design; assessments of environmental and social impact of proposed activities; project evaluation; and research analysis related to problems affecting development and policy reform. The following specific projects received assistance: Agricultural Research II; Dirol Plain Improvement; the Organization for the Development of the Senegal River Basin (OMVS) Groundwater Monitoring; Sahel Water Data and Management III; Human Resources Development; Human Resources Development Assistance; Trust Fund; Rural Health Service; Family Health Initiatives; River Valley Development; Africa Private Enterprise Fund; PRE-Private Enterprise Development Support II; and Rice Production. The project also supported the design of a community development program, a study of PRITECH's impact on an information and education program related to the Ministry of Health's anti-diarrheal study, and a rice production study.
