Abstract
During the visit, EPP reviewed progress on the completion of rehabilitation work and urged the plant management to expedite completion of the work. Discussions were also held on the training requirements of the WAPDA staff. The rehabilitation work involved the replacement of damaged generator stator windings with Class F insulation windings for units 1, 3, and 4. Work on unit 4 was completed, and 100% of the amount was reimbursed. Installation of windings for unit 3 was completed on May 25, 2012, and 100% of the amount, minus spares, was reimbursed. WAPDA has placed a purchase order for the spares. Work on unit 1 was also completed, and 100% of the amount was reimbursed. The rehabilitation work also included the upgrading of the SCADA system for units 1-14. The SCADA system award is in the final stages, with a completion period of 14 months. Therefore, the testing and commissioning of this activity is anticipated to go beyond the agreement completion date of December 31, 2012. Spare seals and guides for relief and bypass valves on the turbine side for units 1-10 were installed, and 100% of the amount was disbursed to WAPDA. Replacement of electromechanical governors by digital ones for units 1-10 was also completed, with digital governors inspected by WAPDA engineers at General Electric, USA, and arriving at the site on November 30. The installation and commissioning of the digital governors on units 1-10 is anticipated to be completed in June 2013. Training for 20 engineers from Tarbela power station was completed in Switzerland, with 100% of the amount disbursed to WAPDA. As of November 2012, total disbursement for the Tarbela FARA was $13,949,917, out of the committed $16.5 million USG funding. The current status of the Tarbela FARA is tabulated below, showing the completion of various work items and the reimbursement of amounts.
