Abstract
The replacement of generator windings was completed at units 1, 3, and 4, adding a capacity of 128 MW to the national grid. Spare seals and guides for relief and bypass valves on turbine side at units 1-10 have already been installed. Procurement of digital governors and a SCADA system is underway. The installation of drainage and unwatering pumps was completed in July. EPP experts physically inspected the installed six high-capacity station drainage and dewatering pumps for Units 1-10 and verified their shipping documents. However, it was determined that one low-capacity tank dewatering pump was not procured, which was reported to WAPDA/Tarbela. In response, WAPDA/Tarbela clarified that a low-capacity tank dewatering pump is not required presently as the existing pump is in good condition and has an estimated useful life of at least 10 years. During July, a payment of $370,000 for the installation of windings at unit 3 was disbursed to WAPDA/Tarbela. Amendment-I of the Tarbela FARA revised the completion date of the project to December 31, 2012. Of the $16.5 million USG funding committed for Tarbela, total disbursement as of July 2012 is $11,249,917. The current status of the Tarbela FARA is tabulated below, showing the completion of work items such as replacement of generator stator windings, installation of windings, and upgrading of the SCADA system. The rehabilitation project has made significant progress, with the completion of key work items and the addition of capacity to the national grid. The project's current status indicates that 68% of the total amount has been disbursed to WAPDA. The procurement of digital governors and a SCADA system is ongoing, with shipment expected in October 2012. The project's completion date has been revised to December 31, 2012, with a total disbursement of $11,249,917 as of July 2012.
