Abstract
Theoretical technical hydropower potential of the rivers in the Alazani Basin is substantial, with a total installed capacity of 414.2 MW and a power output of 2,420.2 million kWh. The rivers with the highest potential are the Telavi municipality's Stori River, with an installed capacity of 33.3 MW and a power output of 193.9 million kWh, and the Akhmeta municipality's Pirikitis Alazani River, with an installed capacity of 10.7 MW and a power output of 67.5 million kWh. The Iori River Basin is another region with notable hydropower potential. The theoretical technical hydropower potential of the rivers in the Iori River Basin is 41.5 MW and 237.3 million kWh. The Tianeti municipality's Iori River has the highest potential, with an installed capacity of 22.2 MW and a power output of 127.2 million kWh. The Rioni River Basin is a significant region for hydropower potential, with a total installed capacity of 428.8 MW and a power output of 2,390.3 million kWh. The Ambrolauri municipality's Lukhuni River has the highest potential, with an installed capacity of 29.1 MW and a power output of 161.9 million kWh. The Rioni River Basin is also home to the Ambrolauri municipality's Kajiani River, with an installed capacity of 5.5 MW and a power output of 31.3 million kWh, and the Oni municipality's Rioni River, with an installed capacity of 11.4 MW and a power output of 63.3 million kWh. The Imereiti region has a total installed capacity of 669.3 MW and a power output of 1,989 million kWh. The Tkibuli municipality's Lekhadiri River has the highest potential, with an installed capacity of 10.9 MW and a power output of 22.8 million kWh. The Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region has a total installed capacity of 1163 MW and a power output of 4,743 million kWh. The Martvili municipality's Tsivi River has the highest potential, with an installed capacity of 2 MW and a power output of 11.3 million kWh. The grand total for the entire region is 1163 MW and 4,743 million kWh.
