Carney, J.; Johnson, Y. · 1984
Abstract
to expand special education, health care, and vocational development services for handicapped children in rural Jamaica. PES covers the period 3/82-8/84 and consists of a facesheet attached to a special evaluation (XD-AAR-252-A). Action decisions are to: (1) eliminate the vocational aspect via a project amendment and substitute it with job placement services; (2) increase the per diem level of the mobile unit team members; (3) increase the number of project vehicles from one to four. (The present project motor vehicle should be scrapped and a four wheel drive vehicle should be purchased. Two vehicles will be used to cover one half of the island, the third by the project manager, the fourth for follow-up work); (4) train the project nurse as a nurse practicioner to adequately serve the needs of the rural children; (5) hire a local educational technologist and a local pediatrician; (6) designate someone to review the accounting, recording, and auditing methods in the controller"s office; and (7) obtain a logo for the mobile unit. Consideration will be given to extending this project, probably through the VSD project.
