Abstract
The concept of SMART life goals is emphasized, where individuals are encouraged to set goals that align with their values and promote healthy behaviors. This includes avoiding risky sexual behavior, such as unprotected sex, and using condoms correctly every time. Hormonal contraception is a type of birth control that uses hormones to prevent pregnancy, but it does not protect against HIV and other STIs. Using hormonal contraception together with a condom is considered the safest option for preventing unplanned pregnancy, HIV, and other STIs. Abstinence is the only 100% effective method for preventing unplanned pregnancy, HIV, and other STIs. Sexual consent is a critical aspect of healthy relationships, and it is essential to ensure that both partners have given explicit and out loud consent before engaging in any sexual activity. Consent cannot be given if one or both partners are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, have low mental capacity, or are subjected to physical force or the threat of violence. Both partners have the responsibility to ensure that consent is given, and body language cannot be considered as an indication of consent. Power dynamics play a significant role in relationships, and individuals must respect the sexual limits and boundaries set by their partner. Harmful and controlling uses of power can increase the risk of unplanned pregnancy, HIV, and other STIs. Individuals have the right to say no to sex in any situation, and it is essential to be SMART, kind, and safe in all interactions. Sexual and reproductive health services are available at public and private health facilities and other non-governmental organizations. These services include family planning, Pre-and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP and PrEP), HIV testing services, Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision, menstrual health, counseling, care, and support services. Hormonal contraceptives are a highly effective and convenient means of preventing unplanned pregnancy, but they do not prevent HIV or other STIs. Regular HIV testing and other STI testing are essential for individuals who are sexually active. Sexual consent is not just about the individual's right to say no but also about respecting the other person's boundaries and decisions. Power and control can be used to harm, control, care for, help, or protect, and individuals must be aware of these dynamics in their relationships. The importance of being informed and aware of one's own and others' boundaries is emphasized. This includes being aware of the risks associated with certain behaviors, such as unprotected sex, and taking steps to mitigate those risks. Individuals must also be aware of the importance of consent and respect in all interactions, particularly in sexual relationships. Sexual and reproductive health services are available to all individuals, and it is essential to access these services to maintain good health and prevent the spread of HIV and other STIs. Individuals must be aware of their rights and responsibilities in relationships and take steps to protect themselves and their partners. By being informed, aware, and respectful, individuals can promote healthy relationships and prevent the spread of HIV and other STIs.
