Abstract
The project aims to provide a bus terminal for travelers, including a bus station, latrine, waiting hall, septic tank, restaurant, and shops. The bus terminal is situated on a 4,000 square meter parking lot, which was previously lacking, causing traffic jams and road accidents. The project includes the construction of a stone masonry boundary wall, sidewalks, and a RCC drainage system, which are funded by USAID/RC-North. The Sheberghan Municipality has also contributed to the project by funding the construction of six shops, one restaurant, a lighting system, and a boundary wall with a 212 square meter area. The direct beneficiaries of the project are the population of Sheberghan district, with approximately 560 passengers traveling daily to and from neighboring provinces and districts. Indirect beneficiaries include people from other districts and provinces who would use the bus terminal. The project documentation was reviewed by two Tt civil engineers from the Afghanistan Engineering Support Program (AESP), who traveled to the site to assess the progress of the construction. The site visit report highlights the various components of the project, including the bus station, latrine, waiting hall, septic tank, restaurant, and shops. The bus station is a key component of the project, providing a safe and comfortable space for passengers to wait for their buses. The latrine is a critical facility, providing access to sanitation and hygiene for passengers. The waiting hall is a spacious area where passengers can wait for their buses, with benches and other amenities. The septic tank is an essential component of the project, providing a safe and sanitary means of disposing of wastewater. The restaurant and shops are also important components, providing food and other essential services to passengers. The project has made significant progress, with various components nearing completion. The boundary wall, sidewalks, and RCC drainage system are largely complete, while the construction of the shops, restaurant, and lighting system is ongoing. The septic tank and water well are also nearing completion. The project has been funded by USAID/RC-North and the Sheberghan Municipality, with a total budget of $1.2 million. The project is expected to be completed within the next few months, with the bus terminal expected to be operational by the end of the year. The Sheberghan Bus Terminal Construction project is a critical infrastructure development in northern Afghanistan, providing a safe and comfortable space for passengers to wait for their buses. The project has made significant progress, with various components nearing completion, and is expected to be completed within the next few months.
