Abstract
The study provides a descriptive profile regarding the following issues (1) SSE subsectoral, industrial, and geographic distributions; (2) the importance of SSE income relative to that from agriculture and other sources; (3) the size, intensity, and pattern of SSE employment; (4) women"s share of SSE employment and ownership; (5) the modes of production and operations used by SSE"s. The report also provides a list of potential target SSE"s for possible future studies, and it includes some preliminary information relating to: the educational background of the entrepreneurs, the history of the SSE"s, changes with respect to the sectors within which SSE"s operate, and entrepreneurs" perceptions of problems and their access to technical, managerial, and financial assistance.
