Project to enable the Council of American Development Foundations (Solidarios) to improve its capability to assist member National Development Foundations (NDF"s) in Latin America and the Caribbean in the areas of project planning, management, and evaluation and information dissemination and exchange in order to make Solidarios"s work with the very poor more effective and better known.

Abstract
Solidarios will implement the project. The proposed project will enable Solidarios to hire a financial expert, a planning and evaluation expert, and a secretary. The financial expert will work with NDF"s to complete development of a single accounting and financial system and an accounting manual. The planning and evaluation expert will develop an operations system for the Solidarios Development Fund, which will enable Solidarios to administer funds received jointly by the NDF"s, and a manual for the system. This expert will also develop a project design, programming, and evaluation system for all current and new Solidarios and NDF projects. Both experts will, through workshops and field visits, provide training and technical assistance (TA) to the staffs of a projected 15 NDF"s. Four workshops will be held on financial management and another four will concentrate on long-term planning and long- and short-term project design, programming, and evaluation; 13 field visits will also be made. Short-term TA will be applied where needed, e.g., in preparing the accounting system manual. Under the information/exchange component, six exchange workshops will be held to enable NDF"s to share their project management experiences, and six field visits to compile information on NDF accomplishments and characteristics will take place.
