USAID. MISSION TO BOLIVIA
Project, follow-on to 5110412, to help small rural communities and local organizations in Bolivia to undertake self-help projects.
1991

Abstract
The project will fund commodities and local support for subprojects of limited size -- normally not exceeding $10,000 in cost and requiring less than 3 months to complete -- which have an immediate impact on the community"s welfare. Examples of eligible subprojects are community-sponsored industries, modest rural infrastructure, selected social services, water supply systems, school remodelling, and construction of health posts. Communities should contribute a minimum of 40% of the total subproject. Charitable or welfare activities, construction of government structures or on private land, and other activities which do not benefit the community as a whole will be ineligible for funding; communities that benefitted from past USAID projects of this type or who are currently receiving Food for Work assistance will also be ineligible. Implementation will be coordinated with bilateral donors, NGO"s/PVO"s, the Peace Corps, and the U.S. Corps of Engineers.
