Grant provided under the U.S.-Israeli Cooperative Program for Development Research Project (9365544) to the Central American Technical and Industrial Research Institute (ICAITI) to explore, in collaboration with the Israeli Institute of Technology - Technion, means of producing higher concentrations of ethanol in fermentation processes.

Abstract
Specifically, the two collaborators will study the effects of physiological parameters and possible genetic improvement in an attempt to produce ethanol levels in fermented mash as high as 14% (weight/volume) in 24 hours.
