USAID. MISSION TO JORDAN
Project, follow-on to projects 2780181/0224/0258/0260, to provide technical services and studies aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of services and investments contemplated in the Government of Jordan"s (GOJ) 1986-90 Development Plan.
1986

Abstract
The Ministry of Planning will coordinate GOJ project implementation. A.I.D. will finance the services of U.S. and Jordanian consultants and experts and the commodities (including computers) needed to prepare pre-feasibility, feasibility, and technical studies, provide TA, and conduct pilot demonstrations related to the development, implementation, and evaluation of proposed GOJ development investments. The costs of construction necessary for the installation of equipment will be borne by the GOJ. The focus of this project will be defined more sharply than that of its predecessors. It will be required that project activities contribute to at least one of the following: (1) an improvement in Jordan"s knowledge of its physical and natural environment; (2) a refined policy and infrastructure environment allowing increased private sector participation in the economy (including possibilities for privatization); (3) upgraded development management capabilities to improve the quality and delivery of government goods and services; (4) policy analysis and dialogue; and (5) project development and evaluation. USAID/J will give priority to activities related to policy analysis and dialogue and to pilot and innovative activities likely to have a significant spread effect.
