Targeting Natural Resource Corruption (TNRC) Model Results Chains aim to provide practical knowledge for program designers and implementers to reduce corruption's impact on conservation.

Abstract
The model results chain illustrates how conservation and natural resource management practitioners can integrate transparency, accountability, and other open governance initiatives into a standard market-based incentive program. Market-based incentives, such as sustainability certifications, can be a force for good in conservation. However, corruption can undermine the integrity of these programs. Increasing access to information and empowering people to ensure rules are followed are key ways to prevent corruption. This model results chain provides a starting point for integrating transparency and accountability into market-based incentive programs, but it must be adapted to the specific context and objectives of a given activity. The model results chain was adapted from the Conservation Actions & Measures Library, specifically from the section on market-based incentives. It shares similarities with another TNRC model result chain, "Integrating Anti-Corruption into Traceability Initiatives," which focuses on the supply chain elements of a market-based incentive intervention. The intermediate result boxes with red text provide descriptive background and links to anti-corruption resources, while the strategy hexagons with red text link to other model results chains adapted with anti-corruption content. For full functionality, the results chain should be accessed in Miradi Share. The publication was made possible by the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The contents are the responsibility of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of USAID, the United States Government, or individual TNRC consortium members. The WWF and its panda symbol are owned by the World Wildlife Fund and are protected by copyright. The TNRC Model Results Chains are designed to be a practical tool for program designers and implementers. By integrating transparency and accountability into market-based incentive programs, practitioners can reduce corruption's impact on conservation and promote sustainable natural resource management. The model results chain provides a framework for adapting anti-corruption initiatives to the specific context and objectives of a given activity, and it highlights the importance of increasing access to information and empowering people to ensure rules are followed.
