Abstract
Section I describes significant trade agreements, trade levels, economic policies, political agendas, and environmental initiatives in Latin America. Section II discusses needed environmental technologies and services and identifies the various environmental markets that exist in Latin American countries for improved environmental infrastructures. Section III presents international, regional, and national legislation regarding environmental standards and regulations. In Section IV, the six largest economies and greatest polluters in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela) are profiled, including their environmental problems, economic situation, and size of their environmental technology market. A brief guide for exporting environmental goods and services is included in Section V, which also identifies sources of further information on trade in the Western Hemisphere, trade agreements, environmental goods and services, environmental technology markets, research institutions, and related topics.
