Abstract
The publication was prepared by AIDSTAR Plus under USAID Contract No AID-GHH-I-00-07-00059. The document outlines the cost of 27 services from the specific package of STI and HIV services for key populations in Honduras. The cost of these services was determined using the Activity-Based Costing (ABC) method, which assigns costs according to the activities performed to produce a good or service. The document presents the results of the cost analysis, which includes the cost of nine prestations and 27 services from the specific package of STI and HIV services for key populations. The results reflect the current cost of providing these services to the providers and the cost based on real prices combining those costs, such as ARV, which are only obtained by the Secretariat of Health, market prices for medications, and considering that human resources are of recent hiring, therefore excluding the age of the people in the job position. The cost analysis was conducted for 27 services, including those provided by public and private providers. The results show that the cost of providing these services varies depending on the type of institution and the specific service provided. The document also presents the results of the cost analysis for each of the 27 services, including the cost of providing each service by public and private providers. The document concludes that the cost of providing STI and HIV services for key populations in Honduras is significant, but the benefits of providing these services outweigh the costs. The document recommends that the Secretariat of Health continue to provide funding for these services and that private providers be involved in the provision of these services.
