Abstract
The project aims to develop an online education portal for health care workers in Brazil, focusing on themes such as fatherhood, sexual and reproductive health rights, and engaging men in the prevention of violence. Promundo is collaborating with the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Brazil, as well as other organizations, including Instituto Noos, Instituto Papai, Rutgers WPF, and Cultura y Salud. The MoH will serve as the principal partner in project implementation, providing input on the themes and areas not addressed in current courses and content offered at the federal level. The intervention strategy involves creating content for the online portal, designing the content for the target audience, and identifying the platform or online site to use. Promundo and project partners have outlined the following modules: fatherhood and men's participation in maternal and child health, sexual rights and reproductive rights for women, and engaging men in the prevention of violence. The project implementation timeline includes several key milestones, including a needs-based assessment in Brasília, identifying cities and regions with the MoH and partners, and scaling the plan with partners and future funding opportunities. The launch event in Brasília is scheduled for February 2015. The evaluation strategy involves assessing the acceptability and effectiveness of the online format of the course, as well as attitude and behavior changes towards the themes of fatherhood, SRHR, and engaging men in the prevention of violence. The evaluation will include both qualitative and quantitative components, including a baseline and endline survey, focus groups, and individual interviews. Promundo and partners will conduct a needs-based assessment in Brasília with the MoH and partners in October 2014, identify cities and regions with the MoH and partners in October 2014, and identify beneficiaries with the MoH and partners in December 2014 to February 2015. The project implementation will involve discussing the platform with partners, designing the curriculum, identifying and contracting a company to design and build the platform, producing content, and transferring content to the platform for the target group. The online portal will be launched in February 2015, and the communications strategy will involve a press release with the DIV team in September 2014 and a launch event in Brasília with relevant stakeholders in February 2015.
