Abstract
The program's efforts have directly benefited 15.66 million people, representing 8.7% of the population. EPP's interventions have also improved the financial performance of energy sector entities by $663 million, which is approximately 7.6% of the 2012 circular debt. The program's progress is evident in the addition of 1013 MW to Pakistan's national grid as of February 2015. EPP has also disbursed $151.79 million to Government of Pakistan (GOP) implementing partners. The program's focus on rehabilitation of existing power plants has led to the completion of several projects, including the Satpara Multipurpose Dam Completion Project and the Muzaffargarh Thermal Power Station Rehabilitation Project. EPP's efforts in project monitoring and implementation have been successful, with the rehabilitation of Tarbela Hydropower Plant being a notable achievement. The program has also ensured the completion of the installation and operation of digital governors at Tarbela Power Station units 1-10, which has resulted in the certification of a WAPDA claim of $300,000. Additionally, EPP has inspected newly arrived equipment at Muzaffargarh Thermal Power Station and concurred with USAID on the reallocated PIL items, justifying the increase in price due to the enhanced scope. The program's focus on policy and reform has also led to significant progress. EPP has provided support to various government ministries, including the Ministry of Water and Power, the Ministry of Planning and Development, and the Ministry of Finance. The program has also supported the National Transmission and Despatch Company and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources. In terms of new projects, planning, and development, EPP has made significant progress. The program has supported the Kurram Tangi/Kaitu Weir Project and the Golen Gol Project, both of which are expected to add significant capacity to Pakistan's energy sector. EPP has also supported other projects, including the Peshawar Electric Supply Company and the National Transmission and Despatch Centre. Overall, the Energy Policy Program has made significant progress in improving the energy sector in Pakistan. The program's efforts have directly benefited millions of people, improved the financial performance of energy sector entities, and added significant capacity to the national grid.
