Project to develop a management training and counseling program for disadvantaged South African entrepreneurs.
1983

Abstract
A private South African organization will implement the project, with institutional support and TA from a U.S. contractor. The project will provide three types of services to entrepreneurs: (1) training, including introductory courses for 1,480 persons, intermediate courses for 740 persons, and advanced instruction for 80 persons - the latter will be geared toward business policy and provided to a limited degree in the United States; (2) follow-up assistance to help trainees apply their training to specific business situations; and (3) one-on-one counseling for 370 manufacturing entrepreneurs and 148 other entrepreneurs. To this end, the project will train four instructor/counselors and four manufacturing counselors and will strengthen the institutional capacity of the implementing entity. In addition, two studies will be conducted, respectively, to identify other constraints on disadvantaged South African businesses and to develop a profile of such businesses.
