Abstract
One of the key achievements of the quarter was the approval of the remaining Procedural Justice Initiative (PJI) Action Plans. The five PJI action plans for the Basic Court of Prishtinë/Priština, Peja/Peć, Prizren, Gjilan/Gnjilane, and Gjakova/Djakovica were validated by the Assembly of Court Presidents and Supervisory Judges (ACPSJ). These action plans aim to provide the courts with the necessary resources, tools, and support to carry out their daily operations efficiently and effectively, ultimately increasing the trust of court users through improved court services, transparency, and efficiency. The Social Housing and Property Rights in Kosovo (SHPRK) continued to implement the Grant on "Promoting and Providing Free Legal Aid Services in Municipalities" in Shtërpce/Štrpce, Novobërdë/Novo Brdo, Ranillug/Ranilug, Partesh/Parteš, and Mamuşa/Mamushë. During this reporting quarter, the grantee filed 70 claims, responses, and/or requests, and provided legal advice to 230 citizens. The success of SHPRK in implementing this grant has expanded the reach of free legal aid to underserved communities. The Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) worked with the Justice Activity to improve several people-centered strategies, including the development of action plans to improve citizen interaction with the justice system. The KJC also expanded the judiciary's outreach to youth and the private sector, increasing the reach of justice services to a wider audience. The Justice Activity also supported the courts in adopting new approaches and ways to conduct their work, which aims to increase the trust of court users through the improvement of court services, transparency, and efficiency. The activity also worked with the Ministry of Justice to develop a Court Management Information System (CMIS) to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of court operations. In addition, the Justice Activity supported the development of a justice innovation network, which aims to promote innovation and collaboration in the justice sector. The activity also conducted a justice technology competition and a low-tech justice innovation competition to identify and support innovative solutions to justice sector challenges.
