Abstract
Integrated when possible, these services will reduce mortality, morbidity, and HIV transmission. The activity is implemented by Pact, Inc. in partnership with Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), Circle of Hope (COH), Copper Rose Zambia (CRZ), Zambia Network of Young People Living with HIV (ZNYP+), mothers2mothers (m2m), and Viamo. The activity focuses on three strategic objectives: increasing coverage of comprehensive and client-centered HIV, TB/HIV, FP/RH, and MNCH prevention, diagnosis, care, and treatment services in communities and health facilities; increasing utilization of community and facility-based quality, person-centered, integrated HIV, TB/HIV, FP/RH, and MNCH services; and increasing capacities of the Provincial and District Health Offices (PHOs/DHOs) to gradually transition direct service delivery of quality integrated health services. During the reporting period of April 4 to September 30, 2023, the activity made significant progress in achieving its objectives. In terms of increasing coverage of comprehensive and client-centered HIV, TB/HIV, FP/RH, and MNCH services, the activity reported a 27% increase in household income among program participants compared to the control group. The activity also made progress in increasing utilization of community and facility-based quality, person-centered, integrated HIV, TB/HIV, FP/RH, and MNCH services. Community feedback indicated strong adoption of health behaviors and improved demand for high-quality integrated health services. Low-cost solutions and innovative models were implemented to increase personal agency and improve care-seeking behavior. In terms of increasing capacities of the Provincial and District Health Offices (PHOs/DHOs), the activity provided technical support for policy formulation, MEL, and coordination with PHOs/DHOs on disseminating health policies, guidelines, data collection/reporting tools, communication materials, and job aids. The activity also developed capacity across all levels of government, including gradual human resources for health (HRH) transition to local entities. The activity worked closely with major counterpart organizations, including the Ministry of Health (MOH), National HIV/AIDS/TB/STI Council (NAC), and Ministry of Local Government, to achieve its objectives. The activity was funded by the Global Health (GH) program of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) under the AIDS program.
