1979
Abstract
The Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) of the GOJ will implement the project. This project follows on the Village Development I and II Projects (2780064, 2780205, respectively). Using simple and appropriate designs approved by USAID and GOJ ministries, a total of 22 schools (eight in the Jordan Valley, ten in Southern Ghors, and four in Wadi Araba) will be constructed. These will consist of all-girls, all-boys, and co-ed schools at the elementary, secondary, and preparatory levels. Administrative offices and toilet facilities will be built at each site. In addition, two government administration centers will be constructed in the Jordan Valley, and health facilities will be built in Southern Ghors and Wadi Araba. At two smaller Wadi Araba locations, space for health facilities will be provided in the schools. Separate health facilities will be built after the settlements grow. A total of 50 houses for GOJ school and health staff will also be constructed in Southern Ghors and Wadi Araba. Water supply structures, including 4 km of transmission pipeline and 20 km of distribution networks will be installed in the Southern Ghors area. Finally, some 20 km of village streets and access roads will be either constructed or rehabilitated. Engineering supervision for all construction will be provided by a Jordanian company.
