Abstract
The application was launched in January 2014 by SSQH-CS, a project led by Pathfinder International and supported by Dimagi, Inc. The main objectives of mSante are to develop and implement a suite of applications and reports to strengthen the integration and quality of services provided by community health workers, improve the reference and counter-reference system between the community and health institutions, and enhance the capacity of supervisors to conduct mentorship and improve the performance of community health workers. The application is designed to provide community health workers with tools to facilitate decision-making and data collection for HIV, maternal health, child health, and family planning. The application allows community health workers to register clients during home visits and provide services for HIV, family planning, maternal health, and child health. The application also enables community health workers to record and store a list of all referrals and send reminders if the patient is at high risk and requires close follow-up. The application is based on the CommCare platform and provides a range of features, including a mobile aid for community health workers, a mobile aid for supervisors, documentation of references and counter-references for health institutions, and program reports for key stakeholders. The application also provides data on the performance of community health workers using the application and providing services. The data collected in mSante provides information on the health status of clients and services delivered by community health workers, including referrals for higher-level care. The application also provides data on the performance of community health workers using the application and providing services. Ensuring that mSante data reaches health institutions can provide support for improving the integration of quality. The application of community health workers collects all HMIS indicators at the community level and provides a monthly summary of activities on the mobile device (this must be verified by the community health worker to ensure that all indicators are collected). The supervisor's application automatically aggregates monthly reportable data from all community health workers on their device, allowing them to easily draw up a report for the data clerk who will verify and submit these information to the DDS following the process in place at the national level. There are three CommCare applications that make up mSante: the community health worker application, which covers family planning, maternal health, child health, and HIV; the institution application, which allows for the acceptance of referrals; and the supervisor application, which contains the supervision checklist and HMIS reporting. The community health worker application in mSante includes key functions for child health, pregnancy, family planning, HIV, malnutrition, registration, enrollment, holistic patient information, vaccination follow-up, ANC visits, TT vaccination, long-term method referrals, LTFU follow-up, vitamin A, folic acid/vitamin A, restocking, family planning adherence, deworming, HIV/IST screening, and parasite testing.
