Abstract
The community brings together stakeholders to share evidence, facilitate learning, and address data gaps. The community's objectives include fostering engagement opportunities and disseminating knowledge products. Private sector companies play a crucial role in promoting women's economic empowerment. Microsoft's Airband Initiative is a partnership-driven approach that aims to bridge the digital divide and promote digital transformation. The initiative focuses on connecting, transforming, and scaling digital access to underserved communities. Microsoft's approach involves partnerships with governments, NGOs, and private sector organizations to provide digital access to healthcare, agriculture, education, and small businesses. The Airband model is designed to address the challenges of the gender digital divide. It involves a holistic approach that includes connectivity, transformation, and scaling. The initiative aims to improve health outcomes, boost agricultural productivity, expand learning options, and enable remote collaboration. Microsoft's digital transformation focus involves providing broadband access to underserved communities, enabling them to work remotely, provide more services, and reach more customers around the world. Private sector companies can integrate women's economic empowerment into their core business by adopting policies, practices, and programs that promote women's equitable participation in leadership, operations, and supply chains. Effective policies and practices include providing training and capacity-building programs, promoting women's leadership, and implementing inclusive supply chain management. Companies can also utilize digital technologies to promote women's economic empowerment, such as providing digital skills training, promoting e-commerce, and enabling remote work. The USAID Women's Economic Empowerment Learning Agenda includes a learning question that seeks to understand what drives companies to invest in policies, practices, and programs to increase women's equitable participation in leadership, operations, and supply chains. The agenda also includes objectives to understand how private sector companies integrate women's economic empowerment into their core business and to utilize the information shared to advance women's economic empowerment within organizations and activities.
