USAID. MISSION TO ZAMBIA
FY 1980 Commodity Import Program (CIP) to provide the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) with short-term balance of payments relief and to support long-term GRZ objectives of agricultural development and economic diversification.
1980

Abstract
CIP funds will be used for the importation of commodities for the agricultural sector, primarily fertilizer, but also agricultural machinery and spare parts. Local currency generated by the CIP loan will be used in the GRZ budget for development activities, especially in the area of agriculture and rural development, or other areas as agreed to by A.I.D. The sole condition precedent regards the GRZ"s need to formulate a detailed plan of procurement at the loan"s start. Progress on agricultural pricing policy and other past issues has been sufficient to obviate the need for other covenants or conditions.
