How to Strengthen Market-Based Sanitation Strategies Using a Geographic Information System
Sign inGLOBAL WATERS
This learning note presents the fundamentals to using a geographic information system (GIS), to incorporate geographic segmentation into a market-based sanitation (MBS) strategy.
2022

Abstract
The logic behind the GIS follows that more densely populated, accessible zones are in turn characterized by a more dynamic economy, making them more fertile grounds for a weak or nonexistent sanitation market. This project supported the BHA-funded Resilience Food Security Activities in Niger in developing a comprehensive market development strategy, focused on the availability and supply of improved latrines and handwashing-products in the Maradi and Zinder regions of Niger.
