It highlights the importance of improving waste management systems to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the impacts of climate change. The study presents the USAID Clean Cities, Blue Ocean program's approach to addressing these issues, including remediating open dumpsites, improving system efficiencies, and promoting 3R (reduce, reuse, and recycle) practices. The document also provides examples of successful projects and initiatives in various countries, including the Dominican Republic, Peru, and Indonesia.
