USAID Trials of Improved Practices Manual: Sustainable Waste Behaviors

The manual provides an overview of the Trials of Improved Practices (TIPs) approach, a brief formative research method that aims to help social and behavior change programmers and policymakers understand which behaviors are feasible for key participant groups to adopt and identify what resources can further support their success. The manual explains how TIPs can be used to test new or modified solid waste management and 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) behaviors in daily life, and how the results can be used to design social and behavior change strategies, provide input to policy design, or contribute to solid waste management system planning or design.
