Abstract
These methods are designed to address the complexities of development programs, and projects, particularly those with many variables, unclear causal pathways, and diverse stakeholder perspectives. The document highlights the benefits of using complexity-aware monitoring approaches, including building on a project's causal framework, understanding non-linear causal pathways, strengthening project design, and delivering critical data rapidly. The document also provides an overview of nine recommended complexity-aware monitoring approaches, including social network analysis, causal link monitoring, and outcome harvesting, among others. Additionally, it discusses the application of these approaches to MOMENTUM awards and encourages their use to improve program implementation and health outcomes.
