Abstract
The study, conducted by USAID Advancing Nutrition, explores food taboos and preferences among women of reproductive age in Tanzania, with a focus on identifying factors that influence their dietary choices and intake. The study's findings highlight various prohibitions and preferences on food consumption, which vary across age, socioeconomic condition, geographic location, religious and ethnic affiliations, and exposure to globalization. The study's recommendations include nutrition counseling, education, and promotion of diverse, local food production systems to address maternal malnutrition in Tanzania.
