Abstract
The collection aims to support program planners and implementers in analyzing whether to add contraceptive methods and products into public and/or private channels in mixed health systems and how best to do so. The collection encompasses a mix of publications, videos, and online tools categorized into six topics: Program Design, Product Registration, Quantification, Provider Training, Marketing & Demand Creation, and Method-Specific Guides. The resources in the collection provide guidance on planning the process of product introduction and scale-up, preparing program managers to work with manufacturers and regulatory experts to support contraceptive product registration, forecasting and supply planning, preparing family planning providers to offer new and existing methods, and strengthening efforts to inform consumers of their options, including new contraceptive methods. The Strategic Approach to Strengthening Reproductive Health Policies and Programs, developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and its partners, is a participatory, interdisciplinary, and country-owned approach to help countries identify and prioritize their reproductive health service needs, test appropriate interventions, and scale up successful innovations to a subnational or national level. The approach is client-centered and emphasizes country ownership. Market Shaping and Introduction Planning for Global Health Training, a one-hour e-learning course prepared by USAID's Center for Innovation and Impact (CII), prepares development practitioners to utilize market shaping and strategic planning to improve access to global health products. The course reviews a market-shaping pathway to guide decision-making about health interventions and examines the stages of strategic planning that support introduction and scale up of global health products. Idea to Impact: A Guide to Introduction and Scale of Global Health Innovations, a publication by USAID's Center for Innovation and Impact (CII), consolidates and shares best practices and lessons learned from decades of introducing and scaling global health products and innovations. The guide is designed to help global health practitioners understand "who should be doing what, when" and lays out the cadence of activities across a four-stage model. Ready, Set, Launch: A Country-level Launch Planning Guide for Global Health Innovations, a publication by USAID's Center for Innovation and Impact (CII), focuses on the critical pivot from global product development to targeted country selection and launch planning. The guide provides a framework for country-level launch planning and includes lessons gathered from successful and not-so-successful product introductions.
