Abstract
The program is implemented through Saturday classes, which are additional classes to the regular school schedule. The classes are conducted over 12 Saturdays, with each class lasting 5 hours, including small breaks and a 20-minute recess. The program focuses on reviewing and practicing skills and content expected to be covered on the LPSCE, including Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science. The materials used for the preparation of the LPSCE include a Saturday class Teacher Guide, Teacher Guides, Learner workbooks, worksheets, topic review summary sheets, and other locally developed materials. The Mathematics Preparation program is designed to review and practice various mathematical concepts, including numeration, place value, rounding numbers, and writing numbers in words. The program is structured to review each topic in detail, with activities such as mock exams, group discussions, and individual assignments. In Week 1, the program focuses on numeration, reviewing topics such as types of numbers (odd, even, prime, composite), place value, rounding numbers, and writing numbers in words. The program includes a mock exam to assess learners' understanding of the topic, followed by a review session to clarify any doubts and provide additional practice. The program also emphasizes the importance of learners reviewing and practicing the skills and content expected to be covered on the LPSCE. Learners are encouraged to attend all classes, review previous knowledge and skills, and practice test-taking skills. The program provides a range of materials and resources to support learners in their preparation for the LPSCE. The AQE-ALP Mathematics Preparation program is designed to be implemented by school administrators and teachers, who are responsible for reviewing topics, providing guidance, and facilitating group discussions and activities. The program is expected to improve learners' understanding and skills in mathematics, ultimately leading to better performance on the LPSCE. The program is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Accelerated Quality Education for Liberian Children (AQE) program. The program is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MOE) and other stakeholders to improve the quality of education in Liberia. The AQE-ALP Mathematics Preparation program is a critical component of the AQE program, which aims to improve the quality of education in Liberia. The program is designed to provide learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed on the LPSCE and ultimately improve their academic performance.
