Abstract
These materials are designed to provide Level 2 Learning Together facilitators with practical approaches and resources for delivering effective life skills lessons. The materials include a Learning Together Level 2 Teacher's Guide, a Learning Together Level 2 Learner's Workbook, and a Teacher's Roll Book. The Learning Together Level 2 Teacher's Guide contains one teaching and learning unit for Semester 1. This unit provides a recommended teaching sequence with effective learner-centered activities and discussions. The lesson plans identify the specific learning outcomes that teachers should focus on each day. The Teacher's Guide provides lesson plans for teachers to use to develop learners' understanding of a variety of topics they may encounter throughout their lives. Each lesson includes detailed information on how to teach vocabulary and concepts and lead pair and group activities and classroom discussion. The Learner's Workbook provides activities that correspond to the Teacher's Guide lesson plans and provides opportunities for learners with mixed abilities to participate in lessons. The teacher can also use these exercises to test understanding of key concepts and topics. The workbook is designed to be used in conjunction with the Teacher's Guide and is intended to support the delivery of effective life skills lessons. The Learning Together Level 2 for Semester 1 introduces topics about children's rights, which could result in a learner reporting to a parent, teacher, or other community member a violation of their rights. If a learner reports a violation of their rights, it is essential to respect confidentiality and work with the learner to report the situation according to the Learners' Path to Help. This approach is designed to ensure that learners feel safe and supported in reporting any concerns or issues they may have. The first lesson in the unit is Lesson 1: Classroom Rules, which is designed to last 50 minutes. The learning objectives for this lesson are for learners to participate in group discussions about learning and to identify and agree on classroom goals and needs. The key learning points for this lesson include exploring the rules that exist in school and the community and discussing the importance of these rules for keeping learners safe and supported. The lesson plans provide detailed information on how to teach vocabulary and concepts and lead pair and group activities and classroom discussion.
