Abstract
The program aims to improve the life of youth in Pathway 1 by providing training and support in various areas, including leadership. Module 4 of the program, titled Leadership, is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective leaders. The module objectives include defining the qualities of an effective leader, demonstrating characteristics and behaviors of an effective leader, clarifying one's own leadership style, motivating and organizing others, guiding sound problem-solving and decision-making processes, leading a team in accomplishing a goal, and interviewing a manager about their approach to leadership. To achieve these objectives, participants are required to complete various tasks, including a pre-module self-assessment, worksheets, and handouts. The pre-module self-assessment is a self-assessment tool that helps participants identify their strengths and weaknesses in leadership. The worksheets and handouts provide additional resources and activities to support learning and skill development. One of the key topics covered in Module 4 is leadership qualities, which includes characteristics such as determination, flexibility, resourcefulness, creativity, self-confidence, positive attitude, responsibility, and good communication skills. These qualities are essential for effective leadership and are emphasized throughout the module. The module also includes a worksheet titled Sight Word and Leadership Puzzle, which requires participants to work in pairs to find hidden words related to leadership. This activity is designed to promote teamwork and problem-solving skills. In addition to the worksheets and handouts, the module includes a handout titled What Makes a Great Leader, which provides examples of leadership skills and qualities. The handout emphasizes that a great leader is a mix of these qualities and that participants should strive to develop many of them. Overall, Module 4 of the USAID Youth Advance Program is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective leaders. The module provides a comprehensive approach to leadership development, including self-assessment, skill-building activities, and resources to support learning and skill development.
